On the fourth Saturday of each month, a number of us gather for the two hour Windows Special Interest Group session at 999 Wilder Ave. At the end of the session I give away, in exchange for a blank 1.44 MB floppy, a disk full of freeware, shareware and demo software applications.
I download the software from PC World, C|Net, Lockergnome and many other sites that offer quality, free and low cost software for the masses.
Freeware - free software applications and utilities. Yours to keep and use.
Shareware - free to try, sometimes for a designated period. The author usually requests a small payment to have you register to become eligible to receive technical support. Usually, but not always, a full featured working copy.
Demo, or Trial - not a full working copy. A working demo, or a copy that will work for a specified period, with some limitations that becomes unusable after the trial period, unless paid for.
I've had numerous requests to publish an index of the programs on each months disk. I thought it would be more useful (and easier for me) to publish the entire disk. Here are links for the Windows SIG Shareware disks. There are no disks for the months of November and December. Because of the holidays the SIG does not meet.
Each month has been compiled in a ZIP file. UnZIP the file after you download it and then read the text file that is associated with each individual file to see if it is of interest to you. If so, unZIP that file and start to use it. Some months also have a text file with a short summary and link for files that are too large to fit on a floppy. If you are interested in any of them, clicking on the URL should take you to the appropriate website for downloading, if that site is still active. I bear no responsibility for broken links.
Have fun and don't forget, if you intend to keep and use an application, send the author the requested amount. This encourages them to continue creating quality, yet inexpensive, software for us to use.
The TUG does not endorse any of the software provided. It is being shared because we think it might be of some use to you.
